Check and adjustment of gaps of valves (engines of 1.7 l of DOHC)

On engines of 1.7 l of SOHC and 2.0 l are established equipped with hydraulic jacks.

Check

Importance of correctness of installation of gaps in the valve the mechanism of any internal combustion engine is difficult for overestimating, in view of its influence on efficiency of functioning of the engine.

Check should be made on the cold engine!


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Cock the parking brake, then поддомкратьте a front of the car and establish it on props. For the purpose of providing to a pulley of a cranked shaft remove the right forward wheel. At the corresponding complete set remove protection of a case of the car.
  2. Uncover the gas-distributing mechanism (see. Removal and installation of a cover of the gas-distributing mechanism). Remove nozzles (see. Head of the Power supply system and release).
  3. Turn the engine in the normal direction (clockwise if to look on the right side of the engine) for a bolt of a pulley of a cranked shaft before combination of an adjusting label on a pulley of the last with the index on a cover of the oil pump.
  4. Continue to turn a shaft rotate a cranked shaft in the former direction until cams of a drive of the valve of the 1st cylinder of an inlet camshaft and the valve of the 3rd cylinder of a final shaft will not be developed by heels to pushers (valves are closed). Now it is possible to start check performance.
  5. Will draw on a sheet of paper the scheme (grid) of adjustment of valves, having numbered cages according to numbering of valves. Fill the formed table, entering in cells nominal rates of gaps of each valve.

Pay attention that gaps in inlet and final valves are identical.

  1. Having developed shaft in a demanded way (see above), measure gaps between heels of cams and end faces of pushers with щупа lezviyny type. Results of measurements write down in the corresponding cages of the table.
  1. For check of gaps of the inlet valve of the 3rd cylinder and final the 4th turn a cranked shaft for a half of turn (180 °). Measure gaps, write down results.
  2. Operating in a similar manner, consistently turning a cranked shaft on 180 °, measure gaps of the final valve of the 2nd cylinder and the inlet 4th cylinder, then the final 1st cylinder and inlet the 2nd. Fill all cells.
  3. If results of measurements do not fall outside the limits admissible ranges (see. To specifications), establish into place a cover of the gas-distributing mechanism (see. Removal and installation of a cover of the gas-distributing mechanism).
  4. Establish nozzles (see. Head of the Power supply system and release).
  5. Establish protection of a case and a wheel, then lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel bolts with demanded effort.
  6. If any gaps are exposed incorrectly, execute the corresponding adjustment (see further).

Adjustment

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn a cranked shaft so that the cam of a drive of the valve subject to adjustment was developed by a heel to a pusher.

Make sure in that the engine is not in position VMT of the corresponding valve as for replacement of an adjusting washer it is required to compress a klapanny spring that can lead to a valve emphasis in the piston bottom.

  1. Develop a pusher a cut in the top edge forward (final pushers), or back (inlet pushers) on the engine.
  1. In the absence of near at hand special KM-6090 adaptation, enter a big screw-driver with a flat sting to honey edge of a pusher and the camshaft basis. Accurately, operating with a screw-driver as the lever, drown a pusher before emergence of possibility to remove an adjusting washer. Extraction of a washer is simplest for making by means of the magnetized core.
  1. Wipe a washer and by a micrometer measure its thickness.

On washers there is a marking which however as a result of wear can appear lost.

  1. Add to the received result result of measurement of a klapanny gap. For receiving the demanded thickness of a new washer from the received sum subtract size of nominal rate of a gap, for example:
  2. Result of measurement of a klapanny gap And = 0.35 mm
  3. Thickness of the removed washer In = 2.70 mm
  4. S sum = And + In = 0.35 + 2.70 = 3.05 mm
  5. Nominal rate of a gap With = 0.40 mm
  6. Thickness of a new washer of D = S - With = 3.05 – 0.40 = 2.65 mm

Probably it will be possible to make demanded by a way of simple shift of washers from one pushers on others. Write down and keep for possible future adjustments of thickness of all washers.

  1. Prepare a washer of the demanded thickness, grease it with pure impellent oil. Wring out a pusher and lay in it a washer marking down.
  2. Operating in a similar manner, modify gaps of the remained valves needing adjustment.
  3. Several times turn a cranked shaft for the purpose of a usadka of washers on pushers, then execute control check of gaps before installation of a cover of the gas-distributing mechanism. Establish a cover (see. Removal and installation of a cover of the gas-distributing mechanism).
  4. Establish protection of a case and a wheel, then lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel bolts with demanded effort.
