Safety locks - the general information
Various combinations of safety locks, breakers of a chain and fusible inserts can be applied to protection of contact chains of electric equipment of the car.
Big safety locks (and the relay) is located on considered models of cars in the assembly block located at the left under the dashboard. On the Astra models the assembly block is behind a box for the trifles which facing should be removed previously from the panel, after removal of components of a box it is necessary to pull for the block bottom for the purpose of a conclusion its working situation. On the Zafira models it is enough to open a cover of the assembly block on the dashboard.
The second assembly block of safety locks / relay is located in an impellent compartment of the car, has a separate design and is equipped with demountable covers.
Each separate safety lock is used for protection of any concrete electric contour or at once several contours. The ID card with the scheme of placement of safety locks in the assembly block is usually glued to a cover of the last, from its internal party.
In assembly blocks the safety locks of a compact design equipped with bayonet contacts, and if necessary easily taken by fingers from the nests in the block are used. At refusal any of consumers of the electric power first of all always it is necessary to check a condition of the corresponding safety lock. Turn a key in the ignition lock in the situation ON and by means of a lamp sampler probe open plugs of each of safety locks. At replacement of the fused safety lock strictly watch that the prepared replaceable element corresponded on type failed. If the new safety lock after installation also fails at once, it is not meaningful to make its further replacement, - before it is necessary to reveal and eliminate the reason of emergence of an overload in a chain. In most cases that appears the short circuit of connecting electroconducting caused by damage of its isolation. Spare safety locks usually are located in free blocks of the assembly block.
Knocking-out of any of the main safety locks leads to a de-energization of the most part of electric equipment.
